We've worked very closely with CADline and the team there has provided solid training and excellent consultation. They obviously know everything there is to know about CAD software and so we really respected their recommendation of Revit.

SADAS

Spacially Aware Data Analysis System

SADAS Solutions: Helping Local Government Communicate

SADAS comprises a suite of integrated software modules and solutions designed to help the management of local authority Land and Property based assets and service delivery.

All the SADAS modules can be implemented and managed as standalone applications. However, when any SADAS module is implemented you can be assured that it will be fully compatible with any subsequently adopted modules, so seamless integration of functionality and common data is guaranteed.

Core to the SADAS system is the Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG). CADline Ltd. have been a committed evangelist of the BS7666 standard from the early days and have implemented BS7666 compliant systems in both local government and major industry sectors for 15 years. SADAS has been a fully accredited system through all the standards versions, the latest being BS7666:2006.

SADAS has a suite of powerful integration tools which will allow the integration and data mapping with existing legacy systems within the authority. This ability is a key factor in making any solution successful when trying to share data with differing systems.

Preferred Database

SADAS will operate on either an Oracle or SQL*Server database and in either client server or Web environments. The implementation options are extremely flexible making SADAS one of the most portable solutions on the market.

The SADAS LLPG and LSG Solutions

An address record is the single most important and widely used bit of data by a local authority. SADAS has been designed with this in mind. The Local Street Gazetteer and the Local Land and Property Gazetteer modules were designed and built to directly comply and complement the BS7666 standard. SADAS has been accredited with all the versions of the standard and is committed to its future development.

The quality of the LLPG and LSG data is controlled as the records are inserted and maintained in the system. There are validation and audit checks built into the modules ensuring that the export of data to the hub is fully checked and cleaned of all anomalies.

The Gazetteer Management System (GMS) is at the heart of the UNI-form portfolio, delivering the single gazetteer that underlies every UNI-form solution, and providing you with a powerful tool for creating and managing a single source of geographical information for a wide variety of uses.

Key Aspects of the SADAS Gazetteer

  • Spatial data held in the same database as the text details.
  • Ensures the quality of your data during the insert and update process.
  • Export and import data in industry-standard formats to and from national and other local systems.
  • The SADAS Application Planning Interface  gives the ability to share the gazetteer data with all necessary teams.

The web search tools allow quick easy and powerful access for all departments to use the gazetteer. There is even a copy address facility which can be used for legacy systems where integration is an issue.

With the SADAS LLPG, you can deliver local information to the public via the web interface. By integrating your gazetteer with existing website applications, you can let citizens make location-dependent queries such as 'where's my nearest school?', and more accurately specify the location when they report an incident.

SADAS Web Mapping/GIS

What is SADAS Web Mapping/GIS?

SADAS Web Mapping/GIS is a software tool from CADline for organisations that want to improve relationships with their local community. It allows employees and contractors (and can allow the public) to contribute to the quality of the data and feel part of the service process delivered to the community. It allows users to report incidents or events quickly and easily without the need for expensive face to face meetings or complex form filling procedures.

CADline has taken advantage of the dramatic improvements in Web Mapping in recent years to build a comprehensive set of Mapping and GIS applications which interact with most existing back office systems. CRM, planning, environmental services and housing are just some examples of the type of data that can be viewed, used and reported on quickly and easily.

The SADAS Web GIS products have been developed to use either Google Maps or Microsoft’s Virtual Earth (Bing Maps).Together with an easy to use yet powerful interface the SADAS mapping applications allow many and varied datasets to be published over the Internet quickly and clearly.

Multiple layers of data can be viewed concurrently so it’s easy to find the points of interest nearest to any given location, e.g. schools, libraries, doctors etc. with detailed information about these points of interest available at a click of the mouse. Information can be in many (and multiple) forms from words and pictures to video (multimedia). You can even add links to other web sites or applications.

There are some powerful search facilities to help locate the area of interest as quickly and accurately as possible. Address and location searches can be based on any dataset including the British Standard National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) which is updated by all local authorities in the UK.

The tools are so intuitive that the majority of people will need no training or guidance at all. Online help together with video tutorials are on hand to provide assistance where necessary.

Much of the SADAS Web interface is configurable so the site administrator can decide which data subjects are viewable and what terminology and labels should be used. This ability is a seriously powerful function which allows organisations to manage their own published data without having to pay consultants every time a web page needs changing.

Development

User expectations for web mapping applications have changed dramatically in the past few years thanks largely to Google Maps and Microsoft Virtual Earth technologies. These products have brought “Web 2.0” to the masses and forever changed our expectations of how these applications should look, perform and access data.

With the advent of “Web 2.0” applications must meet certain expectations including sleek interface controls, a better user experience (driven largely by asynchronous data processing and client-side scripting), drag and drop capabilities and the ability to combine or “mash-up” multiple data sources into a single application.

This is exactly what the SADAS Web GIS tools provide. The applications are making full use of the very latest Web 2.0 facilities and with CADline being partners with Google, Microsoft and Ordnance Survey, our finger is firmly on the pulse of the spatial world.

We are developing our applications continuously and introducing new functionality at a rapid rate. Both Google and Microsoft are investing large sums in this market and CADline are right at the cutting edge in bringing commercial applications to their technologies.

Ordnance Survey Map Publishing

This subject is a hot topic in the web mapping industry at present and rightly so. With our intimate association with OS, Microsoft and Google we can help clarify any concerns you may have about what can and cannot be published.

For now, in simple terms: you can publish OS mapping (e.g. Master map), together with OS derived data (e.g. bus stops) using the Microsoft Virtual Earth application as long as you hold relevant OS licensing. However, you can not publish any OS or OS derived data in Google Maps at this time due to licensing restrictions. Please contact us for more clarity if required.

The SADAS tools will manage the conversion of OS Easting and Northing coordinates to the Mercator Latitude and Longitude’s and vice versa on the fly. Hence, the user does not need to do complex conversion pre-processing before publishing.

Database Options

CADline is very aware that you probably have existing, well-established databases which hold valuable data. SADAS does not require you to replace these datasets and will instead look to establish links to them. The SADAS Web tools come with an API which offers a suite of web services to allow as much flexibility as possible.

SADAS will work just as well with either Oracle or SQL* Server databases and can make full use of the spatial cartridge modules of either.
