Maya Making Movies - June 2009

Film-making and animation over the last ten years has come a long way, primarily as a result of more film-makers opting to produce films in 2D. This has arguably been a very successful technique, with many of these films grossing millions of dollars. Take, for example, Shrek 2, which was released in 2004 and is the top-grossing animated film, reaching over 440 million dollars.

One significant piece of software has been absolutely essential in the development of 2d animation in long-form features. Autodesk Maya was developed in the late 90s (albeit by different developers) during the production of Disney feature animation Dinosaur. Autodesk acquired the software in 2006.

The Impossible Build - February 2009

In any major city in the world today there are buildings and architectural projects that have captured the imaginations and the hearts of those communities they inhabit.  Some of these buildings seem to defy the laws of physics, gravity and possibility in one foul swoop.
